In Tarentaise, jewels are inseparable from traditional costumes. The custom wants that when a boy got married, he had to " shoe the bride ", that is to offer to his wife the traditional jewels: the cross, the religious symbol, the heart, the symbol of love, earrings, rings, long necklaces and brooches.
These fadorments were passed down from generation togeneration. The jewels were made entirely by hand alloy
of gold or silver
